While understanding the need to keep the group safe we also want to expose them to waves and wind. Safety must be the highest priority when paddling in higher risk water. Multiple canoes, appropriate clothing, and the possibility of a safety boat are all things that must be considered.

Program Overview
- Gain a greater understanding of all ways a big canoe can move.
- Skilled in all positions of the canoe.
- Know how all positions work together.
- Is able to utilize all positions and paddle stokes competently to execute advanced maneuvers when running a canoe.
- Can perform a rescue in more difficult conditions, with wind and waves.
- River, Ocean, and Tripping Skill endorsements are available if participants wish to travel on rivers, oceans and trip with the big canoe. (Moving water skills, tides, currents, open water safety and knowledge, and tripping skills are not taught in these courses.)
