Best Instructional Film - Sea Kayak with Gordon Brown

Best Action Film - Let the Slave Run
Produced by Jacqui Whitehead
The Slave River in the Northwest Territories offers world-class play spots, river running and even creeking. Let the Slave Run shows what four sets of rapids has to offer as well as making people aware that this unique river is under threat of being dammed.

Best Amateur Film - Armada
Produced by Aaron Janzen/Graham Nelson
Twelve friends gather on the Upper Red Deer River in the Alberta foothills to end the summer with a weekend of whitewater canoeing. All are ready to “get their paddle on” and have a good time.

The 2010 Festival showcases films that push the creative edge in the paddling film genre. Since its inception over 22 years ago, the Festival has entertained and inspired paddling enthusiasts across North America.

The Waterwalker Festival pays tribute to Bill Mason. If the canoe is the icon of the Canadian wilderness, no man did more to etch that symbol in our national consciousness than the late Bill Mason. Much more than a passionate canoeist - Bill Mason also had the gift to translate his experiences of the natural world into compelling words, paintings and films. He is the most successful filmmaker in the history of the National Film Board of Canada.

Both winners and other outstanding entrants make up the touring festival schedule. A full list of films will be posted on the Waterwalker page soon.

Congratulations to the winners!
